Sarath Kumar wants to head third front in Tamil Nadu Published on July 14, 2008 by IANSViewed 1855 times
Tired of Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK and the opposition AIADMK, actor-turned-politician Sarath Kumar said Monday that his AISMK hopes to lead a third front in the state.
"The state has had enough of the DMK and the AIADMK. As the people are looking for a viable alternative, I will form a
third front of like-minded parties very soon," Kumar told reporters on the sidelines of his 54th birthday celebrations.
Kumar also demanded that Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi should start negotiations with the Karnataka government to find a solution to the stalled Hogenekkal Drinking Water Supply Scheme.
The project on the Hogennekal waterfall where the river Cauvery enters Tamil Nadu is a major dispute between the two states.
Kumar had been a member of parliament representing the DMK and also had a brief dalliance with the AIADMK before forming the AISMK on Aug 31, 2007.
