Good Omen for UPA?
Was it a mere coincidence or a deeper meaning in it? Just as Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh began speaking to mark completion of 4th year in office before an elite audience, the rain gods struck. The heavy downpour forced the genial doctor to raise the pitch of his soft voice. For the wise, there was a heavenly message in the happenstance:
The UPA under Manmohan needs much more to do before it is heard by 'aam aadmi."

PM not a cricket lover
The 4th year celebration of UPA had other tales too. The prime minister was asked if he managed to watch IPL league matches. Manmohan Singh had a rather surprising answer. In a country where cricket is almost like a religion or opium to the masses, the head of the state has little or no interest in it. Manmohan has not watched a single
match at length. Standing at a distance, Congress politician and BCCI vice president Rajiv Shukla was heard speaking to himself. The former journalist-turned-politician-cum-sports administration said there was little wonder why he is out of cabinet so far.

Missing Ghulam Nabi
After Karnataka defeat, Congressmen have begun missing Ghulam Nabi Azad's services for the organization. Azad, currently Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister was considered as party's lucky mascot. As general secretary in charge of several states, Azad was responsible for taking Congress tally to 14 party ruled states by April 2004. But subsequent
victory in Lok Sabha polls led to Azad becoming a victim of palace politics and shunted out of Delhi durbar much against his wishes. A dominant feeling in the Congress is that Sonia's reliance on Prithviraj Chavan-Digvijay Singh is proving to be futile as the two general secretaries who supervised Karnataka polls failed to get anything right in spite of generous resources.
J & K assembly polls are scheduled in September this year. Buzz in the Congress is Azad will be back in action in Delhi as Prithviraj Chavan is Congress' in charge of J & K too!!--------------------------------
Nehru-Gandhis' law of diminishing returns
Supporters of AICC general secretaries Digvijay Singh and Prithviraj Chavan however claim that their leaders have proved themselves. In Gujarat assembly polls, the Congress tally had gone up by five seats. Similar is the case in Karnataka. So both leaders are capable of increasing Congress tally by five seats at least, they argue.
When Arun Jaitley was told about it he laughed his heart out and advanced theory of diminishing returns on a broader canvass. According to the BJP leader, the members of Nehru-Gandhi family from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi are proving the law of diminishing returns right.Under normal circumstances, Nehru was capable of getting Congress a convincing majority of his own. It fell to around 300 seats during Indira era. Rajiv had it reduced to 190 by 1989-91. In Sonia era it is hovering around 140-150 and by the time Rahul comes on his own, the tally will record less than a hundred.

Cheers to boys!
In Chattisgarh's capital Raipur, locals have organized their own cricket league on the lines of T-20 IPL league. The down-town cricket tourney has all the elements of IPL including the presence of "cheer-leaders." But in a BJP ruled state, the organizers have taken care that cheers-leaders remains a sole domain of young boys. The Sangh Parivar is okay with it.
