MD Ravikanth, Chennai 28

Question: What is your take on Dr Ramadoss's demand for a live telecast of the proceedings of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly?

Answer: The good doctor seems to be contradicting himself. On the one hand he emphatically states that no culturally decadent programme should be ever seen on television. On the other, he wants the antics in the assembly to be telecast.

Kovalan, SP Pudur

Question: The activities of the LTTE should be reviewed with the perspective of prior to Rajiv Gandhi's assassination and its aftermath says Karunanidhi. Comment

Answer: Karunanidhi has been hailing the acts of Tigers' boss Prabhakaran long after Rajiv's murder. On this count, Karunanidhi's sermon is silly because he himself isn't subscribing to it.

P Choodamani, Chennai 26

Question: Why do you think that Sonia has rejected the Tamil Nadu Congressmen's contention that the general public will be benefited and the party can be strengthened only through their participation in the state government?

Answer: Perhaps she has understood the futility of being in power at the centre and hence doesn't wish a similar mortification of her party faithful in Tamil Nadu!

S Shiva, Chennai 4

Question: How do you view the central government's proposal to give equal powers to the three election commissioners?

Answer: This is an obvious attempt on the part of the Congress to ensure that the career of its apologist called Chawla [who is second in the hierarchy of the Election Commission] is saved of its glitches.
In a word, this is a dangerous ploy to reduce the institution into its erstwhile status of a rubber stamp.

P Choodamani, Chennai 26

Question: Will the DMK regime be weakened by the exit of Thirumavalavan from the Democratic Progressive Alliance?

Answer: Reduction of a swelling doesn't weaken the body.

Sujata, Chennai 117

Question: Having supported the separatist ideology of the Tamil extremists and armed them in the past, is India's current love for Sri Lanka's sovereignty and integrity correct?

Answer: If a former regime had erred, there is nothing wrong in subsequent regimes correcting the folly.

R Siva Mani P Puliyampatti

Question: Do you agree with Sarath Kumar's argument that those with sharp intellect have no place in the AIADMK?

Answer: Anyone who has realised that politics is no vocation for the intelligent, in all probability is a clever person. That being the case, those with more than average intelligence can never be in politics.

S Pakkirisami, Tiruvarur 1

Question: Haven't you heard that Union [Shipping] Minister TR Baalu has described those who oppose the Sethusamudram Project as the agents of the Sri Lankan government?

Answer: If one accepts the argument that those who back the project are the supporters of the LTTE, the minister's averment probably may have a grain of truth.

K Balaraman, Coimbatore 38

Question: What is your take on Adam Gilchrist's retirement?

Answer: He was a batsman who could put any bowling attack to sword and be the turning point of any match, a wicket-keeper possessing the world record of dismissals through his glove-work and a sportsman par excellence, who 'walked' without waiting for the umpire's index finger to be raised.

Having realised that he is past his peak performance levels, he hung his boots before being eventually booted out. Therefore, there was a grace even in his retirement.

P Narayanan, Chennai 92

Question: Lies uttered a thousand times morph into 'truth.' But, politicians' mere casual utterances are accepted as facts. Why?

Answer: For those who are experts at morphing a single vote into thousands, turning fiction into a thousand facts is child's play.

N Sampath, Chennai 92

Question:
"Instead of demanding reservation for women, there may be a day when men may have to fight for equal rights," MK Stalin has been quoted as saying. Comment

Answer: He seems to be overdoing it. Being so peeved at Kanimozhi doesn't behove Stalin.

Ponvizhi, Annur

Question: Why do you think that every time Jayalalithaa visits AIADMK office there is so much excitement exhibited by her supporters?

Answer:
Once in a blue-moon events are always are viewed with awe.

KN Balakrishnan, Chennai 91

Question:
How do you view the walkout by Congressmen from the assembly expressing dissatisfaction over Karunanidhi's tarrying to act against Thirumavalavan for his continued support to the LTTE?

Answer: Their doing so, despite being alliance partners at the centre and adjutants in the state is indeed praiseworthy belligerence.

Shanti Chandrasekhar, Mettumahadanapuram

Question: What is your take on former minister C Ponnaiyan being appointed as a political advisor in the AIADMK?

Answer: I only hope that he doesn't end up being a former advisor as well!

P Lakshmi Narasimhan Coimbatore 38

Question: Can punditry powered prowesses prevail over providence?

Answer: Travails trumped transpire till destinies determine decisions.

N Kalidas, Chidambaram 2

Question: Several MPs have demanded that a resolution affirming that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India be passed unanimously. Comment.

Answer:
Beware! Such assertions about our own territory will anger the communists.

K Bharadwaj, Thiruvillippudur

Question: Karunanidhi lamented that he had to stomach insults heaped on (TN Finance Minister) K Anbazhagan by Jayalalithaa to ensure the continuance of the government. Comment

Answer:
Anbazhagan can choose between two insults [a] Karunanidhi's open admission to the fact that he didn't protest only because wanted to continue as Chief Minister or [b] Jayalalithaa's pointing out factually that the FM was an assistant professor in his earlier avatar. In my opinion, at least Anbazhagan has nothing to be ashamed about what he had been in an educational institution.

V Paramasivam, Chennai 25

Question: Why is it impossible to complete the Sethusamudram Project despite having 13 ministers at the centre, the CPM has demanded to know. Comment.

Answer: If you expect the leftists to question as to what have been the fate of the Cauvery and Mullaperiyar tangles despite the presence of so many at the centre, well, you are sadly mistaken.

Dear Mr TSV Hari,

Its nice to see Articles, Q&A from Thuglak after couple of months. Keep posting it every week.

I also request you to use simple words while translating. You are using many hi-fi words. For example, I found it difficult to understand the following question & answer
Question: Can punditry powered prowesses prevail over providence?
Answer: Travails trumped transpire till destinies determine decisions.
