Strange bedfellows
Apart from Sanjay-Manyata Dutt message, Samna's Balasaheb Thackeray special issue had another significant article. The author was AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on structural reforms. Digvijay stoutly defended economic reforms and credited late Rajiv Gandhi with virtually everything that is good and functioning in the country. The question doing rounds in Congress and Shiv Sena circles without an answer is why should Samna be publishing such a write-up?

Aamir’s filial problems
Actor Aamir Khan's brother Faisal misses little opportunity in taking on his illustrious brother. The other day Faisal was at Mumbai's Khar police station when he heard cops admiring Taare Zamin Par. Faisal however sounded merciless when he mocked Aamir's highly acclaimed film accusing him of double standards. The brother thinks Aamir observed double standards in attacking Narendra Modi and then inviting L.K. Advani for TZP's special screening in Delhi.

While rest of his counter-parts are dying to travel aboard at every available opportunity, Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is not keen to travel out of the country. Posco officials have been insisting and so are the representatives from UK, Germany and USA, but Patnaik is not keen. The chief minister says he has traveled a lot to undertake such trips. The bureaucracy working with him is disappointed. They feel the Chief Minister may have lived aboard for years, they should get a chance to see the world, check into best hotels and shop…. But Patnaik is in no mood to budge.

Habibullah no one’s loyalist
He was branded as a close Sonia Gandhi aide but Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah is baring his fangs over Netaji papers. The CIC, a retired IAS and 10, Janpath insider has sent a missive to UPA government giving February 15 as a deadline for submitting "secret" papers on the death of Subhash Chandra Bose.
The PMO is outraged and unwilling to oblige Habibullah. The PMO has been insisting that if the papers are made public, it will "prejudicially affect" relations with foreign countries. Which are these foreign countries that UPA is so concerned about? |
